EI is a program that was designed by the government of Ontario to help people who have lost their jobs due to reasons beyond their control with a temporary financial assistance while they look for new work. (This financial assistance has a limited time period, depending on the length of your previous Job).
People who are sick, pregnant or caring for a newborn or adopted child, as well as those who must care for a family member who is seriously ill with a significant risk of death, may also be assisted by EI.
